images of copepods made with seaweed

part of Copepodilia in my studio, fall of 2016

This is part of the Copepodilia. There are sixty-four prints altogether, on Arches cold press, each 22″ x 17″. They’re made using the Victorian art of seaweed pressing, and are about the euphoric reverie of variation in copepod anatomy, according to my imagination.

I stopped making them in early September, which was a good thing, because shortly after that, the tides stopped bringing in massive piles of seaweed. I have other projects I’d like to do with the incredible bounty of gorgeous algae that washes into Stillwater Cove, but I think I’ll have to wait until summer, when the seaweeds come back.
